The Solidarity Sports Initiative, to Be Held on 18 October at Urkulu Reservoir in Aretxabaleta, Will Feature Exciting New Elements
Mundukide Foundation will hold the 11th Mundukide Solidarity Race on 18 October. Combining sport and solidarity, the event will once again bring together individuals, cooperatives and families with a shared goal: building a fairer world through work and cooperation.
This year’s edition will also carry a powerful message. In the context of the armed conflicts affecting many parts of the world, the event will take a stand against war and reaffirm solidarity as the path to building peace.
Through this symbolic gesture, Mundukide aims to promote solidarity, cooperation and the creation of opportunities as the most effective way to overcome violence and conflict.
A second new feature comes from Athlon Cooperative, which will lead a lively Zumba warm-up session before the race, creating a fun, healthy and participatory atmosphere for everyone taking part.
100,000 People Benefit from Mundukide’s Work
Thanks to initiatives such as the Mundukide Solidarity Race (MSR), which help raise awareness and mobilise public support, Mundukide continues working alongside local organisations in Brazil, Ecuador, Colombia and Mozambique.
Its work focuses on promoting cooperatives, agricultural development and employment, always in close partnership with local communities.
Impact That Makes a Difference
The results achieved in 2025 clearly demonstrate the impact of this collaborative model:
Collaboration with 20 cooperatives and 60 groups and associations.
Support for 20,000 farming families, benefiting around 100,000 people.
A team of 61 staff members, including 12 cooperative members, 49 local employees and 80 temporary collaborators.
Work carried out across four main areas: cooperative consultancy, staff training, agricultural development and technical assistance.
Thanks to the work of cooperatives and farmers, an additional €3.6 million in economic benefits has been generated. These resources remain within local communities, improving living conditions and strengthening sustainable economic development.
These results show that cooperation goes beyond providing support. It empowers people, strengthens local organisations and creates lasting economic opportunities.
An Invitation to Cooperatives Across the Basque Country
Since its first edition, the Mundukide Solidarity Race has become a symbol of cooperation, solidarity and social commitment. Every year, hundreds of participants demonstrate that the cooperative movement can also help transform the world.
Last year’s 10th edition brought together 435 participants from 30 cooperatives, and similar participation is expected again this year.
Mundukide warmly invites cooperative members throughout the Basque Country, as well as everyone who believes in the power of solidarity, to take part in the 11th Mundukide Solidarity Race.
