Mundukide has met with The Development Agency of the locality of Maricá, located in the Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro, with a population of 128,000 inhabitants.
Codemar has been very interested in the cooperative movement and in the management of its economic initiatives. On the agenda of the meeting, which brought together the tables of Solidarity Economy, Creative Economy, Planning and Management and Participation, was marked by the exchange of pro-cooperative initiatives and social justice through work. The visit was a follow-up to a previous meeting held by the directors of Codemar with Mundukide in the Basque Country last month. We will continue to report.
Since the beginning of the program in Brazil in 2007, several management models have been implemented in several entities monitored. Experience with models of cooperatives in the Basque Country revealed the need to create a model of its own, combining these practices with those of the MST cooperativism. In 2014, the first proposal of the Social Business Management Model emerged, designed to meet the needs of MST social organizations in a capitalist market, with a focus on people and communities. This model incorporates cooperative values and principles, providing a path towards inclusive and equitable organizational development. The model has become the basis of the monitoring work of the Brazilian program, developing tools for diagnosis, planning and monitoring for its application in various entities. To expand the knowledge of the model, it has been integrated into the pedagogical guidelines of several educational centers in the productive sector of the MST. All training carried out by Mundukide or MST in this sector is guided by this model. Over the past five years, over 1,400 people, including 600 women, have been trained in the use of the model and its tools. Twenty-three unique cooperatives, with 3600 partner families, and three second-degree cooperatives, with 30 partner cooperatives, have incorporated the Social Business Management Model into their daily operations.
