Reflecting on Mundukide’s next four-year period

This year, Mundukide Foundation held its biennial gathering in the unique setting of Arantzazu. For three days, members of the Foundation set aside their daily routines and came together at the Asis meeting centre to reflect collectively on the organisation’s present and future. The result was well worth it.

Hertzainak, one of the icons of Basque rock, had a song that became hugely popular at the end of the 20th century. One of its lines, sung and repeated thousands of times, expressed the dream of “wanting to change all this.” Now, with the first quarter of the 21st century behind us, Mundukide Foundation continues to empower people to change the world, in the Basque Country, Colombia, Brazil, Mozambique and Ecuador.

The organisation currently has four programmes underway in different parts of the world, with cooperants working in Colombia, Brazil, Ecuador and Mozambique.

Mundukide continues to bring cooperative-based development cooperation to different parts of the world, pursuing ambitious goals by starting from small-scale initiatives. With the support of MONDRAGON cooperatives, the Provincial Councils and the Basque Government, as well as national funding sources, the people who make up Mundukide continue working to help build a better world.

Focusing on the 2027–2030 Strategic Plan
The organisation currently has four programmes underway around the world, with cooperants in Colombia, Brazil, Ecuador and Mozambique. They are people doing outstanding work and whose commitment deserves great recognition.

All of them came together in Arantzazu in recent days. They were the protagonists of the gathering and, together, began working on the Strategic Plan for the 2027–2030 period.

It will be a long process, and the sessions in Arantzazu served to establish some initial foundations, share ideas and move towards a common vision. By working together and drawing on everyone’s experience, they will be better equipped to imagine the future.

Leire Mugerza, President of the MONDRAGON Congress, took part in Thursday’s session. Several people who had previously worked as cooperants over the years also joined the gathering, as did some of the people who are currently volunteers at the organisation.

As cooperatives strive to change the world, make it better and renew their perspective on the future, Mundukide is by their side. And it will continue to be.
