On August 20, at the age of 84, Jose Antonio Mendikute Badiola passed away. He was born in Eibar, though he maintained a close professional connection with Debagoiena.
After many years at MU, dedicated to business education and the management of educational institutions, he retired in 2006 and joined Mundukide, contributing his experience through cooperation programs in Brazil and Cuba. He used to say that Mundukide gave him the opportunity to remain connected to the educational field, as a volunteer, while also continuing to live out his cooperative values.
Until just a few years ago, he would make around four trips each year, spending about fifteen days in the project countries, in addition to various coordination meetings at the Mundukide headquarters, together with his colleague Joxe Mari Larrañaga (who passed away in 2023). He prepared teaching materials for the courses and kept in touch with the cooperants by email, responding to their requests for support. He was also a member of Mundukide’s Board of Trustees and its Delegate Commission.
“José Antonio, we will continue working so that the seeds of solidarity you planted may flourish. Thank you so much.”
We send our warm embrace to his family, and especially to our Mundukide colleague Xabier Mendikute, son of Jose Antonio.
