MUNDUKIDE AWARD 2022
The deadline for submitting your work to Huhezinema is now open! Until February 18. Go ahead and participate!
The Mundukide award will reward the best short film of those presented in two sections, Human Rights and Social Justice.
Mundukide’s mission is to cooperate with the peoples of the South by sharing resources and knowledge, using the term “South” to define communities and countries that are outside the economic and social welfare. Mundukide is committed to a development model that reduces the differences between Iparralde, South, West and East. A model focused on the global vision: to the extent that we are all part of the whole, we are responsible for our part, taking into account the local reality and cultural diversity. A model that guarantees the human rights of all people, balances the distribution of wealth and seeks justice in the creation of decent living conditions.
The winner of the Mundukide prize, endowed with € 700, will be able to present the film in 3 activities organized by Mundukide himself.
The award will be awarded by the official jury, in which a member of Mundukide will participate.

“Before I Die” has been Huhezinema’s 14th MDKD Award
This short documentary directed by Iker Esteibarlanda takes us to Lake Victoria in West Africa, where natural beauty collides with the terrible conditions of the women and girls who live in the area. There, on a small island in the Kenyan lake, the fishermen believe they have the right to everything. Meanwhile, women and girls are forced to carry the slab of silence. On an intimate journey into the memories of her childhood, a young woman decides to tell her story in order to free herself from her burden and find her way to hope. Before I Die has won € 700, according to the jury, for the most appropriate insertion of the topic of Social Justice and Human Rights.
