At Mundukide we have created our own proposal for Education for Social Transformation. The main objective is “to bring realities outside our environment closer to a critical social transformation worldwide.” Ultimately, it would be about broadening or “globalizing” the focus on the issues that are being addressed around us around social transformation.
For this we have launched a pilot project called GEHIKOOP, Education for Intercooperative Social Transformation. The project aims to integrate the local and global perspective into the reflections and practices of social transformation that are being carried out around the Mondragón Cooperative Experience, from a gender and environmental perspective, in collaboration with agents from the south both geographic as well as global.
The project has two main lines of work. On the one hand, two years of travel for the motor groups of the cooperatives that work on social transformation. This tour will combine training and action. In the initial pilot project there are four cooperatives: Fagor Ederlan, Copreci, Maier and Arizmendi Ikastola. On the other hand, the creation and dissemination of resources for the development of a person with a critical and entrepreneurial, local and global outlook and solidarity in their profile as a cooperative education student. On this we are working with Mondragon University and Arizmendi Ikastola.
In a globalized world like today’s, where “here” and “there” are not so far away, with very different realities and needs, we also have common challenges. We want to transform our society, but where does “ours” end and where does “yours” begin? Where are the limits of social justice and the distribution of wealth?
After all, we are all members of the world or Mundu Kideak!
